Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus Inauguration

Qualcomm said to inaugurate its new product in the Snapdragon series, a diluted model of the existing Snapdragon X Plus, at a press briefing on September 4 at the IFA 2024 expo in Berlin.

Event Details

This event to be chaired by Cristiano Amon, the Qualcomm’s CEO, is scheduled to unveil the first Oryon implemented 8-core processor with its ultimate focus on the CoPilot+ notebooks in the $800 and below range.

8-core Snapdragon X Plus

A low-cost version of the first 10-core X Elite, the Snapdragon X Plus (model X1P-42-100) is likely to be cheaper than both the currently existing 10-core X Plus and the Snapdragon X Elite Android modems. With an 8 pot Oryon CPU packaged on a 4nm procedure, this new chip is in the middle of performance together with cost which is well suitable for medium-end notebooks that are affordable to the larger population of buyers.

Performance Specifications

Speculations show that the Snapdragon X Plus will have the clock speeds of up to 3.2 only on one core, with the core assigned 4GHz and the remaining core having 3.2GHz in multi-core operations. Adreno type of GPU is provided in this chip, it has compute power and is capable of performing 1 TFLOPS. It outperforms all previous home consoles by providing the gaming system with seven TFLOPS of computing. This is considerably less than the 3.8 TFLOPS seen in flagship models, however, it should still be enough for basic Graphic card usage.

As for the memory, it has LPDDR5X RAM with up to a total 30MB cache whereas the most superior models of X Plus possess up to 42MB cache only.

Moreover, it will have some resemblance to the versions that are offered at a higher price point, such as the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that offers 45 TOPS of AI performance still, and the Always-Sensing ISP for increased performance in handling cameras.

Wireless Connectivity

Wireless connectivity isn’t left out and includes Wi-Fi 7 and 5G for those that use devices powered by the Snapdragon X Plus to remain relevant with the latest in this category. It also has built-in support for up to three external 4K displays at 60Hz, which is good news for users who would wish to create a more expansive workstation.
